Everyone wants a washboard stomach, and spends countless hours exercising only to realize the results aren’t getting them where they want to be. Most likely it is because no matter how good their workout is, their diet is what is keeping them from reaching their goal. Changing what you eat is just as essential.
Besides the importance of diet, this article is about exercise, but it is the combination of both that will help you reach your goal. You should still consult your doctor about what is right for you. He just may be able to recommend which combination is best, and suggest an increase of exercises over a period of time.
Crunches get a lot of people nowhere, because they just aren’t enough. Try double crunches instead, which are similar to normal crunches but with one addition. Start as normal with your knees at right angles and your elbows down, and still pull your shoulders up, but now contract your abs as you pull your knees in.
In addition to exercises you are familiar with, try ones that may be new to you as well. Like the side bridge, where you push yourself up with your right arm until it is completely extended, then reach all the way up with your left arm. If done correctly, this will also help trim your love handles.
Doing the plank superman will also improve your plank exercises the way the double crunch improves the regular crunch. Start as usual, but then lift one arm and its opposing leg for a second or two. Relax and put them down, then repeat using the other arm and leg. Do these as many times as you can.
At first when beginning these exercises, try a goal of twenty repetitions each, adding more and more over time. Keep this formula for any exercise you do as well. Another reason why your exercises may not have been working is because you just weren’t doing enough of them.
