Ask anyone who stays on top of current weight loss trends, and they’ll tell you that exercise is the key to reaching your goals. Walking and jogging in your own neighborhood are of course feasible options, but if for some reason it isn’t where you live, you can stay indoors with an exercise bike.

Both pros and cons of course apply to this machine as well though. For instance, it can aid in weight loss by burning calories and increasing circulation, and using it will indeed help you see your fitness goals. However, if you’re looking to define muscles or build muscle mass in general, you probably won’t get your intended results through an exercise bike.  If you want better abs for instance, you will have to do different exercises like sit ups, or adding weight training as well.

You may also not want to consider this option if you have a lot of weight to lose, since it is more designed for a cardiovascular workout and tends to lean more with maintaining weight, as opposed to drastically losing it.  You may want to look into other exercise methods to add to your plan if you have a lot of weight to burn.

If you still wish to invest in an exercise bike though, you should consider evaluating all of your options. Newer models come with many different features that can aid in your workout, including some that help you exercise your arms and legs while riding.

Many people prefer the exercise bike though because it allows them to listen to music or watch TV while working out. As you can see, it may still not be the best fitness option for you. But if you still feel you can put it to good use, you should definitely consider it a worthy investment.
